GEORGE TOWN: An independent feasibility study on contingency plans to mitigate Penang's raw water risks in the near future will be tabled for review by the Penang government in the first quarter of 2021.

Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) chief executive officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa said PBAPP was planning to present the study on its proposed "Penang Water Supply Initiatives 2050" (PWSI 2050) projects to the state executive council (exco) for review and approval.

He said the initial PWSI 2050 contingency projects proposed in 2019 include:

* Package 12A of the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant (WTP), which has the potential to yield 114 million litres per day (MLD);
