New Value-Added Services to MWA Institutional Members (IM)
In a continuing effort to render value-added services and benefit to our members, MWA has now offer a dedicated space in quarterly bulletin, “Water Malaysia” for Institutional Members. Each edition of “Water Malaysia” will now have a regular feature called “Institutional Members’ News” and Institutional Members can submit write-up on company news, product launches and technical write-up to promote their services and extend their market reach to keep clients and readers well informed. The normal advertisement charges will apply. MWA website will soon make available advertisement slots in its website for IM to promote their brand and services at reasonable rates.

The Malaysian Water Association is going to organize a “Blood Donation Campaign” to assist the hospitals and Pusat Darah Negara that require all types of blood group to be distributed to flood victims around the Pantai Timur.
Mr. Lee Koon Yew, was appointed on 5 May 2014.
He is to lead MWA Secretariat and group of companies; ensure all Secretariat functions are carried out efficiently; to spearhead in membership drive; to facilitate cooperation & communication with members.

The discussion during the forum was frank and intense, reflecting the wealth of knowledge and maturity amongst water players in the country. Many issues were raised and deliberated from different perspective angle. It appears that we all have to embrace the complexity of it and find ways and strategy on the most effective method to improve the situation.
The forum was moderated by YBhg. Tan Sri Ir. Hj. Omar Ibrahim, Founder President of MWA. The Keynote Speaker was YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Ir. Syed Muhammad Shahabudin (Executive Chairman of SMHB Sdn Bhd/Past President of MWA) and invited Panelists were YBhg. Dato’ Teo Yen Hua (former CEO of SPAN), Ir. Jaseni Maidinsa (GM of PBA Pulau Pinang Sdn Bhd), En. Ahmad Zahdi Jamil (CEO of RUB Sdn Bhd/Immediate Past President of MWA) and Mr. Foon Weng Lian (Forum Air Malaysia).

The MWA 26th Annual Dinner held at the Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar was graced by the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili. Also present was the Secretary General, YBhg. Datuk Loo Took Gee and other invited guests from the water industries. The highlights of the evening was the presentation of “2014 MWA Special Water Award for Leadership” that was awarded to YBhg. Dato’ Teo Yen Hua, former CEO of Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara. A dinner talk was delivered by Dr. M. Kumar, the Consultant Neurosurgeon of Sime Darby Medical Centre. About 530 guests attended the dinner was entertained by the stand-up comedian, Harith Iskander on that evening.

MWA has awarded its 2014 Special Water Award for Leadership to YBhg. Dato’ Teo Yen Hua, the former CEO of Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) at its 26th Annual Dinner held on 2 December 2014 at the Pullman Bangsar. A plaque with a wording “In Recognition Of His Outstanding Leadership And Vision In Pioneering The Regulatory Reform Of The Water Services By Spearheading And Developing Best Practices, Innovations And Solutions Which Brought About Significant Impact On The Malaysian Water Transformation Process” was presented to the award recipient by the Honourable Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water while the citation was read by MWA Immediate Past President.

MWA invites members to make their presence visible in ASPIRE 2015 in Beijing by submitting quality technical papers to showcase Malaysia vast experiences and achievements of the Water & Wastewater sectors to the world at the conference and exhibition.
Members are welcomed to submit abstract to the ASPIRE Organising Committee with a note to MWA for us to track the members contribution. For information, Malaysia will host the 2017 ASPIRE Conference & Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur at it would be appropriate for a high profile presence of Malaysia’s delegation and contribution in order to take opportunity to promote the ASPIRE 2017 in Kuala Lumpur.

The newly elected office bearers for the 2013/2015 session comprises of professionals from policy makers, water operators consultants, contractors and suppliers which speaks well for the Association. We thank you for your continuous support.
Special Interest Group (SIG) has been formed to focus on various and immediate issues affecting the industry. SIG will focus on selected issues, deliberate and strategize on how to make our voice heard to policy makers and other stakeholders. The objective is to elevate selected issues to the next level closer to a solution for the benefits of the industry and the consumers at large.
MWA will continue and accelerate its human capital development program for the industry via Malaysian Water Academy through various workshops and training programs with the main objective of having more competent workforce in the industry.
Our conferences and industry forums will be more exciting in the coming session as the industry is ready for an open and transparent discussion on issues affecting the industry and also on consumer expectations for better services. The conferences will play a leading role in promoting technological exchange and innovation, research and development and case studies for an efficient and sustainable industry.
